Diabetes Care (including pre-diabetics)

  • Worldwide we are facing an epidemic of diabetes. Recent studies indicate there are over 200 million diabetics worldwide and that number will grow to over 300 million by 2025
  • Estimates place the US diabetes population at over 24 million with another 57 million pre-diabetics. This represents over 25% of the US population
  • Complications of the disease include cardiovascular disease, vision impairment, renal failure and limb amputation
  • Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN) is a leading complication which can lead to amputation
  • 60-70% of diabetics will be affected by DPN at an annual treatment cost of $11 billion according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention
  • Our newest product, NC-stat® DPNCheck™, is a fast, accurate, and quantitative point-of-care test which we believe may address the unmet medical need for better and cost-effective tools to detect and monitor DPN

Neurodiagnostics

  • Nerve disease is widespread. Among the major indications are:
      • Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) - affecting nerves in the wrist. Over 5 million people in the US are estimated to suffer with CTS
      • Low back pain - affecting nerves exiting the spine. Over 60 million people in the US report serious low back pain
      • Diabetes - affecting nerves in the feet and lower legs. As described above, there are over 24 million diabetics in the US and 60-70% will suffer DPN
  • Our ADVANCE™ NCS/EMG System is a comprehensive platform for the performance of traditional nerve conduction studies and needle electromyography procedures. It is designed for the use at the point-of-care as well as by specialist physicians with peripheral nerve expertise
  • ADVANCE NCS/EMG is the next generation product to the very successful NC-stat® System for nerve conduction testing which was on the market for over ten years
  • An estimated 2.5 million nerve studies are performed in the US each year involving an estimated $1-2 billion in direct health care costs
